INTERACTIVE GAMES FOR TEXTBOOK PUBLISHERS

INTERACTIVE GAMES FOR TEXTBOOK PUBLISHERS

Today many academic textbooks are accompanied by digital assets provided by the publisher, including videos, assessments, and even online learning games.

For this project, Lumina Datamaticswas provided a challenge – create an interactive game teaching the Dynamic Brain for a college level psychology class.

NifteLearning assisted in concept creation, wireframing, and storyboarding a computer game to accompany the course textbook. The game was built around the idea of a space station, guiding students through brain structures and functions, requiring learners to evaluate possible space station candidates.

During this project, NifteLearning worked as a consultant and instructional designer. This role involved:

  • Leading iterative group brainstorming sessions
  • Drafting script and instructional language
  • Considering UX and functionality
  • Creating a wireframe
  • Aligning game and instructional concepts
  • Participating in UX reviews
  • Writing a storyboard with programming notes for developers
